Energy crisis: Be careful, highly flammable! | THE TIME

Suddenly it’s back, the energy crisis – and immediately hits the poorest: in Bangladesh, where the government has not only closed all universities to save energy, but also four of the five state-owned fertilizer factories – in the middle of the planting season, which is why food production is threatened.

In the Philippines, where all authorities now have to save electricity and are therefore only staffed four days a week.

Or in Thailand, where the government is allowing all climate-damaging coal-burning plants to operate at full capacity in order to mitigate the price rise. Like many in Asia, these countries depend heavily on oil and gas from the Middle East. Of raw materials, their constant flow has been interrupted since the attack on Iran.
