Troops Rescue Abducted Children, Neutralise Terrorists in Major North-East Operations

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, under ongoing operations such as Operation Desert Sanity, have recorded a series of major battlefield successes across parts of North-East Nigeria, including the rescue of abducted civilians, neutralisation of terrorists, and recovery of arms and explosives.

According to a statement issued by military spokesperson Lt. Col. Sani Uba, troops carried out coordinated offensives in several locations including Gwoza, Buni Gari, Biu, and surrounding corridors, leading to multiple encounters with Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters.

One of the key breakthroughs came along the Ngoshe–Amuda axis in Gwoza Local Government Area, where soldiers rescued four abducted civilians—two women and two children—who had been taken during a March 2026 attack on Ngoshe community. The victims were later medically evaluated and reunited with their families.

In another operation, troops rescued an 8-year-old boy abducted during the same attack, as well as a 20-year-old man who reportedly escaped from a terrorist hideout in the Mandara Mountains following sustained military pressure.

The statement also confirmed that troops neutralised several insurgents during exchanges of fire, particularly in Valle, Ashigashiya, Gakara, and other operational zones. Weapons and explosives recovered include rocket-propelled grenade bombs, mortar shells, a radio set, and an AK-47 rifle.

Military forces also arrested suspected collaborators and logistics suppliers allegedly working with terrorist groups, including individuals accused of transporting supplies and aiding movement within affected communities.

Overall, the operation has reportedly led to the rescue of at least 65 abducted persons, with continued efforts underway to track remaining captives and dismantle insurgent networks.

The military high command commended the troops for their operational success, describing the sustained pressure as critical to restoring stability and security across the region.
